Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Provide strategic leadership for Surgery or IP-DRG coding operations based on the assigned scope.

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery, including productivity, quality, TAT, and compliance.

  • Drive operational excellence aligned with client SLAs and organizational goals.

Coding Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with CMS, Medicare, MS-DRG (for IP-DRG), or surgical coding guidelines.

  • Monitor audit outcomes, quality scores, denial trends, and compliance metrics.

  • Lead corrective action plans to reduce denials, rework, and audit risks.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client governance, escalations, and performance reviews.

  • Present dashboards, KPIs, audit results, and improvement plans to clients.

  • Support new client onboarding, transitions, and scope expansions.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor Managers, Team Leads, QA Auditors, and Coding teams.

  • Drive workforce planning, hiring, training, and succession management.

  • Build a culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Process Improvement & Strategy

  • Define, implement, and optimize SOPs, workflows, and QA frameworks.

  • Leverage data and analytics to improve coding accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Drive standardization and best practices within the assigned specialty.

Risk & Compliance Governance

  • Ensure HIPAA and data security compliance, especially within a WFH delivery model.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks.


Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related field (mandatory).

Experience (Mandatory)

  • Minimum 13 years of total experience in Medical Coding.

  • Minimum 7 years of department-level leadership experience in Surgery or IP-DRG coding.

  • Proven experience managing large teams and multi-layer operations.

  • Strong exposure to U.S. healthcare reimbursement and audit environments.

Certifications (Mandatory)

  • An active coding certification is required.

  • certifications:

    • CCS

    • CPC / COC

  • Candidates without active certification are not eligible.


Key Skills

  • Deep expertise in either Surgery coding or IP-DRG workflows.

  • Strong understanding of quality metrics, audits, denials, and compliance.

  • Proven leadership in remote / WFH delivery models.

  • Excellent client communication and escalation management skills.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
