Key Responsibilities
Coding & Delivery Oversight
-
Lead a team of medical coders and ensure accurate, timely coding as per assigned specialty (Surgery / IP-DRG / E&M / ED).

Perform hands-on coding in addition to team oversight, as required.

Ensure adherence to ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines relevant to the scope.
Quality & Productivity Management
-
Ensure team meets productivity, quality, and TAT targets (accuracy ≥ 95%).
-
Conduct daily work allocation, tracking, and monitoring.
-
Review coding output, identify errors, and provide corrective guidance.
-
Support QA audits and ensure closure of audit findings.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
-
Mentor, coach, and support coders to improve performance and skill levels.
-
Address performance gaps and support improvement plans.
-
Act as the first escalation point for coding-related issues.
Compliance & Process Adherence
-
Ensure strict compliance with CMS, Medicare, payer guidelines, and HIPAA.
-
Follow and enforce internal SOPs, coding standards, and workflows.
-
Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
-
Coordinate with QA, operations managers, and clinical/CDI teams.
-
Support client requirements, reporting, and communication as needed.
-
Assist in onboarding new team members and new processes.
Continuous Improvement
-
Participate in training sessions, calibration calls, and guideline updates.
-
Share best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related field (preferred).
Experience
-
5–8 years of experience in Medical Coding.
-
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a Team Lead or SME role.
-
Hands-on experience in at least one specialty: Surgery / IP-DRG / E&M / ED.
Certifications (Mandatory)

An active coding certification is required.
